Share Your Plating Expertise with StyleYourPlate

StyleYourPlate teaches home cooks how professional chefs transform everyday meals into restaurant-quality presentations. We’re looking for chefs who enjoy teaching and want to share practical plating techniques that viewers can easily recreate at home.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking short videos that demonstrate how to improve the presentation of a finished dish. Each video should focus on practical techniques that home cooks can easily apply in their own kitchens.

Our preferred format is:

  • Start with an empty plate. Show the empty plate before any food is added.
  • Plate the dish as a typical home cook might. Create a simple presentation that represents how most people would normally serve the dish.
  • Transition to StyleYourPlate. Pause for two to three seconds while the StyleYourPlate logo appears with the message: “Now let’s take it from home style to restaurant style.”
  • Elevate the presentation. Continue plating the same dish, explaining the techniques, ingredients, garnishes, and finishing touches that transform it into a restaurant-quality presentation.
  • Show the finished plate. Briefly explain the key changes that made the biggest visual difference.

Video Guidelines

  • 30 to 90 seconds
  • Portrait orientation (9:16) preferred
  • Record in HD
  • Good lighting
  • Speak naturally as you plate
  • We welcome chefs from around the world. To best serve our audience, we ask that all videos be presented in English.
  • No special editing is required

This format lets viewers clearly see the transformation from an everyday presentation to one that reflects professional culinary standards.

What Makes a Great Video?

The most helpful videos explain not only what you’re doing, but also why each plating decision enhances the overall presentation.

Topics might include:

  • Plate selection
  • Color balance
  • Height and dimension
  • Negative space
  • Sauce placement
  • Garnishes
  • Texture contrast
  • Portion placement
